Living in New York Series: Landing a Job in Beauty or Fashion

As you may or may not know, my first real world job was at L’Oreal. I worked across Maybelline, Garnier and essie for over two years, and touched on Matrix for a bit as well. I didn’t realize it at the time I accepted my offer letter, but I was very fortunate to start my career at L’Oreal. I worked across brands that I had grown up using since I was 13, surrounded by some of the smartest people I know. What I also didn’t realize at the time, was just how hard a job at L’Oreal was to get. Don’t get me wrong, I networked and interviewed hard for the position, but I didn’t realize how much of a dream job it was for other people until I was employed there.

One of the rockstars I met at L’Oreal was Clare Brown (if y’all aren’t following her blog or Insta, you definitely should start now), and she is a beauty & fashion pro. Working both agency and in-house, she has years of experience within these industries. To help others with their quest to find their dream job within beauty & fashion, she’s taken her years of experience and turned it into her very first ebook: How to Land Your Dream Job in Fashion & Beauty.

It can be so stressful to find a job before graduation, especially in this industry. Unlike other ebooks, this book actually gives you the concrete information you need to put pen to paper (or rather, finger to keyboard) and get out there to get a dream job in beauty in fashion. Acting as more of a guide than a pie in the sky book, you’ll receive:

  • Exclusive interviews with fashion and beauty professionals to learn first-hand about how they broke into the industry

  • REAL networking emails Clare sent that helped her land her first job

  • A list of agencies and companies that specialize in fashion and beauty

  • A list of influencers and editors to follow and interact with via social media

  • How to utilize an Informational Interview to the max

  • So much more!

You can purchase her ebook here. If you have any specific questions about how to break into this industry, leave them in the comments below!
