Instagram Link Roundup
I’ve been a big fan of Instagram for awhile. I started my own Instagram account shortly after I came back from studying abroad, and that was 3.5 years ago! I used to love the filters with the black border, and then I eventually graduated to Valencia. Valencia was my game. Then Instagram decided to make it even easier (and classier) to edit photos by putting basic photo editing software within the tool. Now, my recipe for success is Brighten + Contrast + Saturation + a little Sharpening. It seems that most people are steering away from the filters and instead enhancing their natural photo, which I adore. Instagram is also shifting a bit to be very professional shot and stylized now. I don’t really mind that, as I’m not a huge selfie fan, but it is changing the scope and landscape of the app.
I was pretty excited when I read The B Bar’s blog a couple weeks ago, and they announced they were going to be hosting an Instagram Link Roundup. I love to share other’s work that I’m excited about, or inspired by, so I immediately raised my hand at participating. I really love Instagram profiles that inspire me either from a content, styling, or layout perspective. I’m also the most influenced on Instagram.
Their question was pretty straightforward:
Who are three of your favorite Instagrammers and why?
1. @EliseJoy – Elise’s blog was the first blog I read on a consistent basis. I discovered her blog in February of 2012, I think from Pinterest. She had so many different crafts, recipes, and projects on her blog, and she spoke from an honest place. I was immediately hooked. Her content has shifted to be focused on more of a bigger picture approach, which has been so cool to see her change and consequently, her content. Her Instagram handle is an awesome extension of her blog. She has her support Instagram photos for her blog posts, but she also does a lot of behind the scenes, recently some quotes, her house, and so many photos of her adorable little girl, Ellerie. You can literally feel JOY emanating from her Instagram posts. While her photos are always clear and pretty well lit, they’re actually real photos. For the most part, they aren’t staged (some are for promo support), but instead taken at a different and new angle. I love her timer ones that capture a real life, unposed moment.
2. @whitv – Whitney is inspiring on so many levels. She’s a couple years younger than I am, and she’s been able to start a successful branding and design company: Hearts & Arrow Design. Her Etsy shop has such great, and practical paper products for organizing, planning, etc. She’s such a positive spirit, and has an eye for styling shots. I feel like it’s hard to break into this business if you didn’t start seriously 10 years ago, but she’s turned her business into something super successful and inspiring in less than a year!
3. @bonniejoymarie – Bonnie is literally a cheerleader for you on Instagram. Her posts are so motivational, positive and uplifting. I have never met her before, but she just seems like the most positive person to be around. That positivity radiates from her Instagram profile. Her shots are stylized really well, but with everyday items that someone could also do in their home, office or studio. She’s also a big fan of gold, and you know I can’t get enough of that shiny metallic!
