looking back at 2014
Along with everyone else, I can't believe 2014 is already gone. In January, I remember thinking 2014 was going to be a great year. I just had this crazy, calm feeling that things would fall into place as they were meant to. Boy, was that feeling proved right this year. Through all the ups and downs, it's been a remarkable year. I'm finally at a point in my life where I've accepted myself, not only learning to accept my body (which, has definitely taken some time), but to truly accept and love myself for who I am, where I want to go, and what I want to do. I don't think I've ever felt quite as at peace with myself until this year. I can't pinpoint one exact thing that helped me feel this way, but I think it's just the simple step of truly loving yourself. Which, with all simple things, is not really a very simple thing at all.
Here's a quick list of my favorites from 2014, as chronological as possible.
Best Pretzel: Harpoon BreweryMade with beer, and comes with 3 different dipping sauces. So good!
Best Celebrity Citing: Tina Fey Tina is the new spokeswomen for Garnier skincare. I was lucky enough to attend her print shoot when I worked for Garnier.
Best Work Experience: SXSW I've been lucky enough to have a lot of amazing work experiences in the past couple years, but SXSW is a conference I've wanted to attend since 2010, and I was finally able to seize the opportunity. I can't say enough great things about the SXSW experience.
Best Reading Spot: Riverside Park around the uppers 60's in Manhattan
Best Day at The Park: Easter 2014 These people are not only my New York family, but just awesome, great people in general. So blessed to have them in my life.
Best Day of Remembering: Bloomsday 2014 for Grandpa Borneman My grandpa, Barney, passed away in late April. For the past umpteen years, he's always walked Bloomsday, and it happened to fall a couple weeks after he passed. We were lucky enough to walk it in honor of him.
Best New Purchase: My new apartment! Okay, this technically isn't a purchase, as I'm renting. BUT, since a lot of my paycheck goes to this little bungalow, it's definitely my best monthly purchase.
Best New Haircut: by Tommy Buckett I cut off 6 inches earlier this year. It's the shortest it's been since graduating high school!
Best New Summer Restaurant: North River Lobster Company It's a boat that serves buckets of beer, lobster rolls, and goes out on the River every hour. Best. Place. Ever. If I could live here, I probably would
Best Holiday: 4th of July with these crazy fools
