Last year, we obviously won Halloween with our group themed attire, but we paid for it by battling the wickedly congested streets of Halloweentown the West Village. It was so much fun, but so much work. Not to mention how sweaty my head was 1 hour in. So, this year we decided to stay in, stay warm, and hang out with each other. It's funny how throughout September and October there are no good costumes to found. Then, on actual Halloween, all of the good costumes come out from behind the Insta-curtain to smack you in the face. "Why weren't we this?" "This costume is the bestttt!"
While mindlessly scrolling through Instagram and judging appreciating everyone's costumes, we watched A to Z, Hocus Pocus, drank spiked apple cider, and ate Sloppy Joe Casserole.
When one stays home on a national holiday, one better make it a good night. So, naturally, we made a drinking game out of A to Z and Hocus Pocus. A to Z involved taping a mustache to my TV and anytime an actor's face matched up to the mustache, it was time to drink. If you haven't played this one, it's amazing and hilarious! For Hocus Pocus, we elected to keep the orange mustache on - hint: once it lands on Thackery Banks, your life is complete - but also added phrases to the mix.
While we enjoyed staying in (and our wallets and livers were extra grateful), I think we all came to a mutual decision that next Halloween will be E-P-I-C. There may even be a remake of Hocus Pocus by yours truly. Just sayin' - watch out West Village. But, I'm so thankful to have spent it warm and dry with some of the best people I know.
