Sorry for the lag in blogging. I was in Boston for a weekend, hit with the norovirus the following weekend, in training for work for a week, and have been trying to remain warm in this cold, harsh winter.
In mid-February, Allie, Alison and I went to Boston to see Jake and to get out of the city. One thing we wanted to do was to go to a brewery. We decided on Harpoon, because of the great history they gave you the most free samples :-) Allie and I walked about a mile from the bus stop, through the freezing wind, and finally saw the light. However, we got there, and the line was 2+ hours long, and the tours sold out. Naturally, we took to social media to tell the story. Through a cousin of a friend who saw my post, they pulled some strings and actually ended up getting us in! The brewery was amazing - great guides, great beer, and amazing pretzels.
Recently, I've been reading the Outlander series. Like a true social maven I stalk follow all of their social platforms. One recent social campaign Outlander is running, is #PocketJamie. Since I've ran several campaigns that involve giveaways at L'Oreal, I thought 'why not enter?'. So I did. And somehow I won. Now, I have a #PocketJamie to keep me company while I read.
This weekend, Whitnie and I took to the past at the American Museum of Natural History. But first, we got Shake Shack. It's like NYC's version of In-N-Out. The museum is giant, and we got lost multiple times. It was very old fashioned, which I liked. Afterwards, we went to see Lone Survivor (spoiler: amazing, but sad!).
No weekend can truly be great without a brunch. Especially a brunch at Isabela's. Even though Julia & I had a mimosa and bloody mary spilt all over us, it was still amazing. Don't worry, they comped our next round of drinks.
If any of you are familiar with my mother, you'll know that once she sets her mind to something, it doesn't end until it's complete. Her recent venture it to make St. Joseph officially smoke free. For those of you that aren't familiar, St. Joe still lives in the 1800s and many bars and restaurants still allow smoking indoors. Yes, they still ask you "Smoking or Non-Smoking" when you enter Olive Garden.
Anyways, the city can vote on April 8th to ban smoking indoors (and join those of us living in 2014). They created a social campaign for #SmokeFreeSelfie to raise awareness of voting. Even though I can't vote in Missouri anymore, I'm still supporting! Nothing is worse than going to the bar, and coming home reeking of smoke.
Until next time!
